2020 MEMBERSHIP UPDATE (20 April 2020)

Dear Member,

As we all work together as a community to ensure the safety of ourselves and others, our everyday experiences are a little different to what we are used to. The physical distancing that is required of us, means that for a while we are unable to gather as we are used to at our local Club.

During these unprecedented times, we wanted to assure you that whilst we are unable to open our doors to you, your Membership will remain valid.

Any benefits that you may have accrued as part of our Membership program will be preserved for you, including points and Birthday offers.

Whilst we look after your Club, support our staff and remain connected with our Members, we thank you for your patience and loyalty, and once again would like to ensure you that when we welcome you all back, that your Club will be strong, safe and ready for you!

If your Membership is due for renewal whilst we are closed, it will remain valid until we reopen, at which time you will be invited to renew your Membership.

There will be plenty of time for you to renew, we will advise of the renewals period as soon as we are able.

For Members with point balances that are due to expire on the 1st of July 2020, this period will be extended.

Your points will still be valid, and ready for you to use on your return, with a new expiry date to be confirmed after we have reopened.

For all Members having Birthdays during this time, you will have the
opportunity to redeem your 'Birthday offers' when we re-open.

We look forward to welcoming you back to your Club!

Dear Members,

As you are undoubtedly aware, last night the Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that from midday today additional restrictions have been placed on non-essential gatherings in a bid to slow the rapid spread of coronavirus in Australia.

This restriction applies to all pubs, clubs, restaurants, cinemas and indoor sporting venues across the country.

What this means to our Members is that unfortunately your Club, Magpie Sports Club closed from midday today, until further notice.

I would like to assure you that following the mandate applied to internal venues on social distancing last week, your Club vigilantly followed all the guidelines. We would like to thank all the Members and guests for their cooperation over this weekend, your commitment to each other as a community is commendable.

Unfortunately it appears that not all venues were able to manage the situation to an acceptable level, and therefore the government had no choice but to elevate restrictions to further manage the risk in the community.

In the meantime, your health and wellbeing and that of our staff remains our highest priority, please continue to look after yourselves and your families.

Over the coming days and weeks we will keep in touch, and will continue to share information to help our community during this difficult time.

Please keep informed with information you can trust, below are some reputable sources for information and support. We look forward to welcoming you all back in the not too distant future.

Yours Sincerely,

Dean Thomas
Chief Executive Officer

With t
he recent announcement from the Prime Minister limiting gatherings of 100+ people indoors, there will be changes to the Club on a whole. During this difficult time we will continue to remain open and provide a quality social venue for  our community, however it is vital we acknowledge in our day to day operations, the importance of social distancing.

So it is doors open, but we will need to make some changes acknowledging the importance of the health and wellbeing of our members and our staff. It is important to note the limit on 100 people as we understand it is not the entire venue, but rather the individual spaces, limited to maintain the required social distancing measures
